Thurston Foods is proud to invest in our local community
About Foodshare
Founded in 1982, Foodshare is the regional food bank serving Connecticut’s Hartford and Tolland counties, where 127,000 people struggle with hunger. Foodshare is a member of the national organization Feeding America, along with more than 200 other food banks nationally. In partnership with the food industry, donors, community leaders and volunteers, Foodshare works to maximize access to nutritious food and other resources that support food security. And, because hunger is bigger than food, Foodshare collaborates with anti-hunger organizations, policy makers, and the broader community to build effective solutions to end hunger.

The mission of the Connecticut Food Bank is to provide nutritious food to people in need. We do this by supplying food products and resources to our member agencies, as well as through direct food distribution programs and by promoting public awareness about the problem of hunger. We provide food and resources to a network of community-based food programs, such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, residential programs and day programs serving adults and children in six of Connecticut’s eight counties: Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham. The Connecticut Food Bank is the largest centralized source of emergency food in Connecticut and last year distributed enough food to provide more than 18 million meals.School Nutrition Association of Massachusetts
